Calling hours Saturday 9 a.m. to noon at Myers Chapel Mt. Vernon. Survived by son Francis L. Essley Jr. of Mt. Vernon, stepfather Charles W. Kindle, two brothers Tex and Bill Essley, and four sisters Hilda Huntsinger Jidna Benjamin Mabel Tassel and Katherine Dinges. He was born March 25 1925 in Tulsa Oklahoma and was an Army World War II veteran in the Bend Airborne Division.

In East St Louis a 14 year old ninth grade student returned after being spanked twice by an administrator at Rock Junior High. The student then shot Elmer Jones administrative assistant, in the left cheek and hip, as he stepped from his office. He remained in critical condition Thursday night.
