Theft Reported of 500 Pound Angus Heifer

A 500 pound Angus heifer was reported stolen to the sheriff's office yesterday afternoon. The animal was taken from the home of Robert Mellott on Route 2 in Mt. Vernon.

Knights of Columbus Convention in Chicago Events and Honors

Delegates including Cravens Downey and Paul Downey accompanied by Helen Noble will attend the Knights of Columbus convention at the Conrad Hilton May 16 to 18. Funeral Friday for Lee O. Davis of Dahlgren

Funeral services for 82 year old Lee O. Davis of Dahlgren will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home with Rev. R L Schlagg officiating. Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Davis died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born March 2, 1887, son of Hardin E. and Sarah Clifton Davis. A retired carpenter and mechanic, he was a member of the Dahlgren Methodist Church. Survived by wife Mary Edna Musgrave and one son Lee Roy of Dahlgren. several siblings predeceased him. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Gholson Funeral Home.
