Edison school PTA completed its 1954 55 officer installations with Mrs. Charles Wehunt as president Mrs Ralph Dethrow and Mrs Wilbert Heintz as vice presidents Mrs Don Randall secretary and Mrs Arthur Gardner treasurer. Mrs Stoltz conducted the business session and Mrs Baril presented a summary of 101 Questions About Public Education. A choral program led by Mrs Barbara Hayes and Mrs Lorraine Tarr accompanied piano selections by Donna Gardner. The group noted a 44 percent PTA membership increase and Mrs Wehunt reported on a Springfield PTA convention. Mrs Stoltz received the Past President’s bar. Attendance banners went to Miss Mae English’s fourth grade and Mrs Carrie Lee Randall’s first and second grades. Gale Ballard explained first grade report cards.

Major Safety Record For Tri County Employees
Tri County Electric Cooperative celebrated a major safety milestone with J C Champ and RG Kurle presenting awards. Since March 1950 employees have logged zero fatal accidents and only eight hours lost to personal injuries while totaling 300 000 man hours over four years. Plaques and money clips plus key dialing devices honored male and female workers. The program is a joint Illinois Safety and Job Training effort involving 27 electric coops and the State Department of Vocational Education, with no fatal accidents in 47 years and 12 in the prior seven years.
