Survived by two sons Logan and James Irvin one step son Cecil Irvin three daughters Chloe Little Mary Syzdek Debra Schneider and many grandchildren great grandchildren and a brother Willis Braden. Funeral 2 p m Wednesday at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro with Rev Fishback officiating. Burial Hickory Hill Cemetery Broughton. Viewing after 6 p m today at the funeral home. Former Dale resident born Sept 3 1886 in Hamilton County to Jake and Mary Braden. Preceded by husband Willis Irvin and son Paul Irvin. Member of Dale Pentecostal Church.
Lloyd Wood 81 of Manteno died Saturday at a Manteno hospital. Former Opdyke resident employed at Manteno state hospital. Services set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sexton and Garden Funeral Home with burial in a Manteno cemetery. Survived by wife Sally, son Neal Wood, daughter Ellen Squire, granddaughter Sally Margaret, brothers Fred and Roy, aunt Cecile Summers. Preceded in death by sister Katherine Mitchell.
Everett Walser of Shelbyville Kentucky is reported dead. He was the brother of Mrs Ursula Adams of Dieterich, formerly of Waltonville Road.
Mary Mezo 68 of 913 Gilbert died at 10 40 p m Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital funeral 1 30 p m Wednesday Myers Chapel Rev Buss Hart officiating burial plans pending friends may call after 6 p m Tuesday born March 27 1907 Jefferson County daughter of Phillip Henry and Helen Boster married Joseph Mezo in Benton 1934 surviving two daughters Janice Mezo Freeburg Earleen Apgar Mattoon four brothers George and McKinley Boster one sister Mabel Williams Swifton Ark and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.
Edward Fat Mitchell 75 of West Frankfort died at 6 25 am today at Union Hospital West Frankfort Funeral services were held at Reedy Funeral Home with Rev Phil Pearce officiating Burial followed at Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery Benton Survivors include wife Ruth Cleveland a son John Mitchell Harrisburg a grandchild and brothers Everett West Frankfort Clyde Herrin Also surviving is a sister Emma Collins Resting at the funeral home after 6 pm Tuesday for callers.
A 30-year-old Mt. Vernon man, Herbert Goosby of Imn Bell St., received two concurrent terms of four years probation in circuit court on Friday. He must serve the first six months in county jail after pleading guilty to unlawful use of weapons and intimidation. The charges arise from March 8 when he allegedly possessed a 12 gauge shotgun with a short barrel and threatened George Hones.

Wholesale grades show A Large 30-35, Standard 22-25, Medium 20-22, Unclassified 14-16, Pullet 14, Peewees 8-10. Ready-to-cook broilers and fryers priced 41.50 to 42.25 for this week’s delivery.

Two thefts in Centralia were reported to the county sheriff over the weekend. Billy Hogan’s car on Route 7 lost two tires and rims around 10:15 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Emmit Telford on Route 5 reported thieves took seven gallons of gasoline from her residence Thursday night and removed the gas cap but did not siphon any fuel.
A free concert at the high school showcases the stage band led by Steve Rainey and Gary Arnold with a rhythm section including Ben Wechsler and David Powell. The Swing Choir performs a 1920s medley Twentianna. Doors open at 7 40 with no admission charge.
