Government to Sell Flood Insurance with Subsidy Plan

The Senate passed a bill to have the federal government sell flood insurance and pay 40 percent of the cost. States would share the subsidy after June 30, 1959, under a 39-31 vote approved at the request of President Eisenhower. The measure allows direct federal insurance and reinsurance of risks held by private firms.

Dudley James F dies at 75 rites Sunday at Myers Chapel

James Franklin Dudley of RFD 1 Mr. Vernon died at 8 30 this morning in Good Samaritan Hospital after four days as patient. A farmer aged 75 years four months and 22 days he was born December 19 1880 in Jefferson County. Survived by wife Maude Grant and five sons James Alys Harold Leonard Delbert Walter. three daughters Nina Willmore Gladys Schmitz Joyce Bailey. a brother Joseph of Marion and 11 grandchildren. Funeral Sunday at 2 00 p m at Myers Chapel with burial in Horse Prairie cemetery. Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 2 00 p m Saturday.

IS G Baldridge Dies At 75 In Mt Vernon Area

Samuel Garfield Baldridge died at 5 30 this morning at his home seven miles northwest of Mt Vernon at age 75 years eight months and three days. He was born September 8 1880 in Jefferson county. His first wife Cora A. Baldridge died in June 1949. In 1952 he married Lulu Osborn who survives. He lived mainly in the Irvington Illinois area and belonged to Fouts Christian church. He is survived by Lulu two sons Vernon and Donald of Centralia and two daughters Mrs Roy Armstrong and Mrs Norman Hake of Irvington. Funeral Sunday at 2 p m at Fouts Christian church with Rev Roy Cole officiating. Burial in Fouts cemetery. Friends may call Saturday afternoon at Queen Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.
