The deceased, son of William Clay and Olive Nowak Chompson, is survived by wife Geseva, a son James Jani Newman of St Louis, a daughter Mrs Jean Marin of Laurinburg NC, a brother Everett Newman of Alma, two grandchildren and a sister Mrs Joe Beltmitz of St Louis. Friends may call after 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

John Johnson 65 of Rockford died Sunday in a Rockford hospital. He was the son of the late J. K. Johnson and former Mr. Vernon resident. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Long Klontz Funeral Home in Rockford. He is survived by his wife Jo Alice a son a daughter and a brother Bob Johnson of Fort Worth Texas.

No Serious Injuries Three Injured In Broadway Collision
Three people were injured in a Saturday night crash at Broadway and 7th Street, none seriously. Daniel Schlag 18 Belle Rive and Kent Renshaw 22 of 701 S 20th St collided after Schlag tried to cross. Renshaw’s car hit Robert Sims 40 of 220 Burns St and caused major damage to all cars. Schlag and passenger Donna Barr 17 Dahlgren treated for minor injuries. Debra Rust 20 of 18 Crownview Drive also treated. Schlag charged with failure to yield at intersection. Police noted five other weekend accidents and several minor injuries in the area.

Band-Choral Concert Opens County Music Festival At RLC

American Buyers Club Charged In Class Action Suit
A class action suit filed in Jefferson county circuit court targets American Buyers Club of Mt. Vernom Inc and president Gene Watts.
