Deaths Former Piopolis Priest Eckerman Dies at 83
Funeral services for the Rev. Theodore Eckerman will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic church in Piopolis where he served as priest from 1937 to 1956. The 83-year-old Fr. Eckerman of St. Louis died Tuesday at Alexian Brothers Hospital. Bishop Albert Zuroweste and several priests will officiate. deacons include Fr. James P. Burke and Fr. August Reyling. The body will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro. He was the first priest ordained by the late Bishop Henry Althoff.

Survived by wife Alice Duncan, a son Arthur Hill of Coal City, a daughter Fern Schlag of Dahlgren, a brother John Lill of Kiowa Kansas, a sister Ethel Schnellenberger of Louisville Kentucky, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
