Deaths Wendell Shields Dies At Age 67 Rites Thursday
Wendell Shields Sr. of 621 South 12th Street died at 6 12 this morning at Good Samaritan Hospital after two weeks as a patient. A retired butcher aged 67 years seven months 29 days, he will lie in state at Myers Chapel after 4 00 p m Wednesday with funeral services Thursday at 2 00 p m conducted by Rev Everett LeMay. Burial is in West Salem Cemetery. He was born September 10 1859 at Dix to Bruce and Minnie Shields and married Essie Fleener in August 1919 in Mt Vernon. Surviving: his wife. three sons William W Shields Jr Mt Vernon. Charles Edward Shields Mt Vernon. J D Shields Mt Vernon. three sisters Hazel Breeze Martha Levin and Mary Lou Lowery. a brother Ivan Shields. seven grandchildren.
