Mt Vernon markets showed steady hog prices with top at 16.75 for 220 lb hogs. Lows posted around 15.00 for 300 lb weight and boars ranged 10.50 to 11.50.
William Marion Crabtree 87 of 320 Jordan died at Good Samaritan Hospital at 4 45 a m today. Funeral 8 00 p m Thursday at First General Baptist church where he served as deacon. Burial in Memorial Gardens. Body lies in state at Pulley Funeral Home after 2 00 p m Wednesday and at church noon Thursday. Born August 1 1873 in Gibson County Indiana to Franklin and Sarah Crabtree. Married Sarah Jane Martin August 11 18M. she preceded him in death along with two sons, a brother, and a sister. Survived by three sons J D Crabtree Tucson Arizona J D Crabtree East St Louis and Ralph Crabtree San Francisco California a daughter Mae Hurt Mt Vernon 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna May Ervine were held at 2 00 p m Monday at the La Palma Chapel in Anaheim Calif Burial took place at Melrose Abbey Memorial Park in Anaheim She died suddenly last Friday May 5 Survivors include husband Rudolph T Ervine of 819 Cambria Street Anaheim daughter Lucille Thibodeau of Anaheim two sons Rhodes Ervine of Anaheim and Charles Ervine of Addison Illinois four sisters a brother and one grandchild
An accident on Mt Vernon streets Monday involved a car driven by Frank H. Wehmeyer of 1002 South Rd and a truck driven by Hugh L. Lisenby of Route 7 at Seventh and Casey. The car sustained about 3100 in damage and the truck about 60. no injuries were reported.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange reports butter wholesale prices unchanged with grades AA to C listed. eggs also steady with whites grade A and mixed lots noted. Prices show 60 40 and 56 for various butter grades while eggs list 32 for whites and 30 to 44 for standards and dirties.
Chicago poultry market report shows wholesale buying prices steady with roasters at 23 to 24 cents per pound and special fed white rock fryers at 18 to 19 cents. Associated Press report from USDA data.

Oats list No 1 extra heavy white 70-70.2, No 2 extra heavy white 70, samples 68. Soybean oil at 128. Barley making choice 1.10 to 1.20, feed 93 to 1.00.

Frank McKinney a 25 year old resident of 901 Lamar pleaded guilty in county court to petty larceny for taking $25 from a cash register at King's Bakery on April 7. Judge Alvin Lavy Williams ordered costs of 35.30 against McKinney.
Bill Wetzer reported to the sheriff this morning that a 5 horsepower Evinrude motor was stolen from his boat at Miller Lake. The motor was valued at $125.
Mayor Ivan Cox praised CD Director Don ald Hahn and Civil Defense for efficiency during the floods. He commended city workers and utilities for minimizing damage and said Vernon would extend facilities to evacuees and those harmed. He noted regret for inconveniences and thanked private citizens and enterprises for offers of help.
