C M Russell died this morning at his home 002 south 22nd street, aged 87 years one month and three days. Born April 6 1870 in Hamilton county he passed away with funeral arrangements incomplete and his body taken to Pulley Funeral Home.
Springfield reports daylight saving measure failed in the Senate. Sen Clarence Sprinkle sponsored compulsory daylight time for May through September with October optional in Cook County. Only 24 of 80 votes, the bill did not pass. Other actions sent to the House include expanding the Budgetary Commission and creating an alcoholism division with $300,000, plus health department radioactive materials facilities inspection.
W Harold A Stenman 57 of Belvidere was killed at the National Grey Iron Foundry when flaming oil drenched him near an open furnace. Co workers said oil contacted hot metal and flames enveloped him in the accident.
Larry Forrestal had a flight to Champaign today. Lyle Endicott went to Chicago this morning. Bob Howard flew to Oklahoma City today. Ian Koziara traveled to Pensacola yesterday.
