George Ernest Johnson 75 a Hamilton County farmer died at his Aden Illinois home. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 2 00 pm at Richardson Chapel Wayne City with burial in Crouch Cemetery. He was born August 2 1884 in Missouri and married Nancy Roger in 1904. Survivors include his wife a son Cameron Johnson of Alton Illinois two daughters Helen Cornelison Paxton and Hazel Troyer Gibson City four grandchildren and four brothers Earl Howard Paul and Harold.

Henry Hunt 76 of McLeansboro Dies in Eldorado Hospital

Henry Hunt 76 of McLeansboro died at 9 30 last night in Pearce Hospital Eldorado. Born January 15 1884 in Hamilton County he was married to Halie Clark who survives. Surviving children include Ralph Wayne Kendall Doy D Hunt Ronald I Hunt Myrtle Jones Clara Miller Imogene Breecher and three sisters Lula Culley Birdie Johnson Effie McIntosh. Burial will be Monday at Knights Prairie Cemetery with Donelson Funeral Home directing. Friends may call after 4 this afternoon. He was a member of Knights Prairie church and the McLeansboro Masonic Lodge.

Hannah W. Hayes of Mt. Vernon dies at 5:30 a m at her daughter s home Route Six aged 85 1 6 with 150 descendants including six sons three daughters 47 grandchildren 92 great grandchildren and two great great. Burial at Hopewell Baptist church with Rev Partridge and Rev Beal officiating. Survived by six sons three daughters two sisters and a surviving daughter listed. She was born April 1 1875 in Doniphan Missouri and married James C. Hayes who died in 1936. Memorial service in Mt. Vernon East Side Baptist church membership.

Sunday baptizing at Spring Garden draws 13 to 14 participants

The Spring Garden Sunday School enjoyed nice weather for a baptism at a creek on Ewing Road. About 13 or 14 members of Ina Free Will Baptist Church were baptized, led by Pastor Everett Beatty. Community members visited and shared news of deaths, hospital stays, and recoveries, including Arthur Woodward of Benton. Kenneth Jones continues recovery and shows hopeful progress after surgery.

Herrin Man Drowns In Storm On Reelfoot Lake

Harold Brown 55 of Herrin Illinois drowned when a fishing boat overturned about a mile from shore on Reelfoot Lake during a rainstorm. His son in law William E Spangler and grandson Evan Spangler were rescued by dock operator Bill Nation. Spangler clung to a buoyant cushion for 25 minutes with the boy on his neck before rescue.
