Frank Tourville aged 20 from East St. Louis drowned while swimming with a companion in Carlyle Lake. Officials said he swam about 100 yards from shore in ten feet of water. The friend returned to shore and Tourville did not follow. his body was recovered after an hour search.

Suspect Arson In Fatal Fire At City Tavern
A fire swept through the Mitch and Bonnie Tavern and adjoining apartments in Chicago injuring eight and killing two women. Police detained a man after he threatened to burn the tavern hours earlier.
