SIU to pay $35,000 in Allen tenure dispute
AP reports philosopher Douglas M. Allen will receive 35,000 under a settlement with Southern Illinois University. He sued for 100,000 over denial of tenure citing criticism of the university. Fire evacues 14 babies from Roseland Hospital ward
A fall fire in Roseland Memorial Hospital obstetrics ward filled hallways and a nursery with thick smoke. About fourteen babies were carried down a chain of nurses and students to safety, then returned to their cribs after ventilation. No injuries were reported.

Pleads Guilty To Arson In Bloomington Case
