The Air Force estimates the Bataan costs about 225 dollars per hour to operate. Former Resident Flies to Arabia For Oil Company
R. Curti. Schrum, a former Mr. Vernon resident, sails to Saudi Arabia to join Arabian American Oil Co. He lived near Mt. Vernon until 1941 and worked at Kroger, Prudential, Kingsbury Ordnance Plant, Standard Oil, then Shell American Oil Co. He flew from Chicago with stopovers in Ganders Newfoundland Lisbon and Rome. Mrs. Schrum and daughter Nada will join him in Arabia after July or when his tour ends.

Deaths and Funerals Mrs Nora Rose Dies at 69
Mrs Nora Ellen Rose died at her home in Dahlgren at age 69 years five months and 21 days. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a m at St Marys Catholic Church with burial in St Marys cemetery. Visitation begins Monday at the Pulley Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 15 p m. She was born November 13 1881 in Mt Vernon and survived by two sons a daughter three sisters and one grandchild. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.
