Ethel R. Dye, 65, of 2811 Mannen St., died 7:15 p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a city school system cook for years. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Partridge and Rev. James Feaman officiating. Burial in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Born June 10, 1910, in Thompsonville, daughter of Logan C. Marvel and Nellie (Watson) Marvel. Married Aug. 28, 1929, in Nashville, to Paul T. Dye, who survives. Also survived by several nieces and nephews including Judy (Marvel) Shurtz, two great-nieces Angelia and Alisha Shurtz, three brothers Everett and Earl Marvel of Benton and Charles Marvel of Gasconade, Mo., four sisters Hattie Moore, Amelia Cook, Ruth Warner, and Ruby Slaton. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, parents, a sister, and a half-sister.

Robert Barksdale, 31, of 704 Main St., pleaded guilty in circuit court to burglary and deceptive practices. Judge Alvin Lacy Williams sentenced him to one to three years for burglary and six months for deceptive practices, to run concurrently. The burglary involved a Feb 12 break-in at Dewzer Electric at Fountainplace Industrial Park. the deceptive practices charge arose from a bad $650 check to David Mays on Feb 21.
