Lee J Linker of West Star Route McLeansboro died at Good Samaritan Hospital at 12 50 am of a cerebral hemorrhage He was 57 Funeral services set for 11 am Friday at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro with Rev Harrison Knight officiating Burial in Oklahoma He was born September 18 1898 in Russellville Arkansas son of Irvin Linker He married Myrtle Hunt in September 1945 Survivors include his wife two sons J D of Brush Colorado and Paul of Mounds Oklahoma a brother Harold of Tulare California and two sisters Gladys Cox Fresno California and Retha Crowder Fort Smith Arkansas

Fire loss in Mt. Vernon for April reached 1615 dollars with 29 alarms during 30 days. A single blaze caused 1400 dollars of the loss, destroying an unoccupied partly furnished three room house at 1301 south 18th. Firemen responded to seven homes, 17 grass and rubbish fires, two sheds, one automobile fire and two retail stores. Two Men Sentenced to Vandalia Penal Farm
Two men were sentenced in county court to the state penal farm at Vandalia yesterday. Joseph Alexander, 36, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to vagrancy and received a sentence from Judge Dale Andrews. a petty larceny charge for shoplifting a clock at the G. G Murphy store was dismissed. Cyril Dudley, 33, of Nason, pleaded guilty to issuing a check to defraud and was sentenced to six months at Vandalia with restitution ordered.

Motorcycle Hits Taxi On Tenth Street
A motorcycle ridden by Jimmie Lee Strain, 16, of 1624 Forrest, struck the rear of a taxicab on Tenth street at Lamar. Police charged Strain with careless driving. No injuries were reported. Taxi driver Elmo Rector, 329 Main street, was uninjured.
