Funeral services for Louis John Bell of 1201 south 26th Street will be held Sunday at Myers Chapel at 2 30 p m with Rev Leo Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Cartwright cemetery in Hamilton County. Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 4 p m today.

Only 166 pints were donated during the Red Cross Bloodmobile two day visit in Mt Vernon far below the 300 pint quota. Ninety five pints were donated yesterday with no reflections, and seventy one pints were donated Thursday with thirteen rejections. The next Bloodmobile stop will be at the Elks Lodge on the last two days of June, marking the fiscal year end.
Fire yesterday damaged a shed at William C. Mc Guire residence 908 South 21st Street. Firemen reported papers and trash burning in an alley started the blaze.
Earl McNeil of Thompson ville pleaded guilty in county court to issuing a check to defraud. Judge Alvin Lacy Williams ordered full restitution and imposed a $50 fine plus costs.

Farmers backed by the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District plan to seek federal aid under the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act for a flood control project on Seven Mile Creek. Two plans were discussed including seven small upper-tributary dams and channel improvements, or one large dam north of Route 15 with two retarding structures. The effort involves a three man local committee and district staff with state agriculture support. Illinois weather notes warm, humid with sun and possible thundershowers tonight and Sunday.

A 23 year old Black man, Ora Lee Rogers of Ville Platte, is jailed in a seventh floor cell at the Rapides Parish Courthouse while authorities prepare charges in the Red Dell killing of 36 year old Lumley Guillory. Police say Rogers admitted stabbing, strangling, and sexually assaulting the victim as her husband was away. State police later moved Rogers to a secured Alexandria parish prison for safety amid potential mob unrest.
Osmond Jay Ritland, 49, promoted to Brig General to oversee the Air Force missile program. A former Wright Air Development Center test pilot who survived a 1943 Mosquito fire and a broken back, Ritland has guided the Atlas Titan Minute Man and Thor programs as vice commander of the ballistic missile division. He succeeds Lt. Gen. Bernard Schriever as head of Air Force R and D command, bringing decades of hands on experience to top research and development leadership.
Two Tri County Electric employees Callie Maddox of Mt Vernon and Everett Harlow of Walnut Hill were honored at a retirement party at the Mt. Vernon office. Maddox retired after 15 years and Harlow after 18, receiving "This Is Your Life" booklets prepared by coworkers. Forty six attendees heard Henry Fenton narrate part of the program as H. G. Downey served as toastmaster.
