Auto Cushions Stuffed With Phony $20 Bills
MINNEAPOLIS The Secret Service said two men arrested with a large cache of counterfeit $20 notes admitted making the bogus currency at a Salt Lake City printing plant. Agents estimated about $600,000 in counterfeit money printed. Arrested at a motel were Max C. Christopherson 31 Salt Lake City and Edward L. Montoro 21 Los Angeles, both printers. The phony bills were found packed in seat cushions of the car they arrived in. The motel operator alerted police after they carried the cushions inside. No exact count yet, but expected to run into hundreds of thousands of dollars. A few bills were apparently passed in Minneapolis.
