Jesse McKenzie 73 of Ina died yesterday at the Veterans Hospital in Marion Illinois. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2 00 p m with Rev Riley Burton officiating. Burial follows in Smith Cemetery near Opdyke. He was born April 10 1877 in White County near Norris City to Thomas and Cecilia Ann Lasater McKenzie. He married Enola Hopper on December 23 1900 who survives along with two sons Arvid Mt Vernon and Thomas Ina. four daughters Mrs H N Stull Ina Mrs Richard Brannon Detroit Mich Mrs Harry Welch Detroit Mich and Mrs Otis Hayes Pueblo Colo. nine grandchildren and one great grandchild and one brother A McKenzie Lilbourn Mo. He was preceded in death by two daughters four brothers and one sister.

Illinois House approves emergency relief funds bill
The Illinois House voted 6.8 million dollars in emergency relief grants to cover poor relief payments through June 30. The measure, approved unanimously, moves to Governor Stevenson for immediate signing. The Public Aid Commission says cashflow shortage risked serious hardship until the two year appropriation begins.
