Funeral Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Bonnie Church of God, Rev. Loy Shaw officiating, burial in Kirk Cemetery. He leaves Edna Mae Campbell Williams, four sons, two stepchildren, a brother, three sisters, a half brother, and 12 grandchildren.

Alice Lee Davis Dies at 76 in McLeansboro
Alice Lee Davis of McLeansboro died at the McLeansboro Nursing Home at 2 20 am Sunday after a lingering illness. She was 76, born July 7 1879 in Poseyville Indiana, daughter of Sam and Elizabeth Lee. She married William Henry Davis in 1899 and lived in Hamilton county most of her life. She was a member of the First Christian church. Funeral Tuesday at 2 pm at Gholson Chapel with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, two sons, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The body lies in state at the funeral home.

City And Rural Firemen Report Six Weekend Alarms
Mt. Vernon city and rural firefighters answered six alarms over the weekend and Sunday morning. A grass fire burned over 40 acres near Bill Morris’s home northeast of the city. No buildings were damaged on the county farm road. Rural units also fought grass fires at Ivan McConnaughay and Ray Blades residences with no damage. City crews contained a grass fire at the state tuberculosis hospital grounds on Saturday. Sunday afternoon they responded to Earl Hill’s Ashley road home to a scrap lumber fire. A 4:30 p.m. report noted control of a grass and rubbish fire damaging an outbuilding at Mrs Hicks’s 304 south Third street.
