He pulled to the road shoulder and collapsed. a passerby found him at 8:50 a.m. He was born June 18, 1921 in Mt. Vernon, son of Henry Guy and Grace (Williams) Riggs. Survived by wife Hazel Felty, whom he wed May 7, 1944 in McLeansboro. mother Grace Riggs of Mt. Vernon. a son William Frank. two daughters Jacqueline Joyce and Donna Fay, all at home. a brother Frank Riggs of Mt. Vernon. and a sister Fay Russell of Detroit, Michigan. Gas Station Burglary at Third and Main
Arthur Gregorys service station at Third and Main streets was broken into last night. Thieves stole a table model radio valued at 23 dollars a flashlight worth 1.85 five cigarette lighters totaling 6 and about 2 dollars in dimes and nickels. Entry was gained by smashing a front door glass and unlocking the door. The burglary was discovered when the station opened. City police are investigating.

To Send Youths To Boys' School
Two Mt. Vernon teenagers caught Wednesday with a stolen car will be sent to the St. Charles School for Boys. They are Carl Dean Borders and George Douglas Morgan. Morgan’s probation was revoked in county court and he was given into custody of juvenile parole officer Val Jean Thomas of the Illinois Youth Commission. Borders was turned over to Thomas as a parole violator.

Fire Endangers School Near Mt. Vernon
A wood and field fire spread across about 80 acres, nearly reaching the Wolf Prairie schoolhouse four and a half miles southwest of Mt. Vernon in Mc Clellan township. Rural firemen battled the flames for hours, with another flare igniting fields across the road by 7:00 p.m. Fifty additional acres burned overnight, but no buildings were damaged.
