Army to eliminate Davy Crockett atomic mortars worldwide
Secretary McNamara announced the Army will inactivate nearly all Davy Crockett atomic mortars. Units with 155mm howitzers capable of firing an atomic shell will drop the system by June 30, leaving only those needed by airborne or mobile divisions. The weapon, deployed six years ago, was designed for pill boxes and bunkers, with a three mile range and up to 250 tons TNT yield. It has not appeared in Vietnam.

Farm Bureau Signs Up 22 New Members
A three day drive by the Jefferson County Farm Bureau ended with 28 new members signed up. Since September 1, 64 new members joined for a total of 1,747 members. Eighty volunteers contacted 133 prospective members during the campaign. The 22 new members cover 2,700 acres. A team of three women defeated the men in the membership contest led by Mrs. Carl Dirschauer with Mrs. Don Likens and Mrs. Delbert Moore. The winners received gifts.
