Born Mt Vernon Sept 16 1908 to George and Alice Duncan, funeral Wednesday 2 pm at Gholson Funeral Home Dahlgren with Rev Glen Payne officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery. Calling after 6 pm today at the funeral home. Survived by wife Stella three sons Donald Bill Jim of Mt Vernon one daughter Bernadine Clemmons Barn Hill one sister Fern Schlag Belle Rive and seven grandchildren.

Death of Earl S. Overturf at 86 in Eldorado
Word has been received of the death of Earl S. Overturf, 86, Eldorado, on March 10 at Ferrell Hospital. A former Ashley postmaster and longtime hardware operator, he was funeralized March 12 at Bean's Colonial Terrace in Eldorado with Rev. Leroy Pittman officiating. Burial followed at Wolf Creek cemetery. Survived by wife Inez, three brothers Charles of Anderson Indiana Edgar of Mt. Vernon Newton of LaGrange, and sister Mrs Emma Summers of Louisville. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge.

Eleven students escaped unharmed when a midnight fire gutted Tower Lake II dormitory at SIU Edwardsville Edwardsville Indiana.
