Lucy S. Frost 86 dies in Jefferson county church funeral planned

Lucy S. Frost 86 of Route 5 died Saturday evening at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Born August 29 1889 in Jefferson County she was daughter of Carol J Simmons and Elizabeth Blosser. She married Frank Frost January 4 1917. he died February 1 1969. She belonged to Panther Fork Baptist Church for about 75 years. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Melvin Chambliss officiating. burial in church cemetery. Friends may call at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix after 6 p.m. today. Survived by two daughters Ruth Byars Mr Vernon and Dorothy Osborne Oakwood, a brother Henry Simmons Mr Vernon, and a sister Alice Mitchell Seattle.

Stolen Monte Carlo Found Near Times Square Mall

A 1973 Monte Carlo stolen from the Brehm-Hanna lot last Tuesday was found in a field south of the Times Square Mall Sunday morning. Police said the car was locked with no keys inside when taken and located at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

11-Year-Old Boy Saves Father From Fire in East Moline

An 11-year-old East Moline boy named Dan Reed Jr. is credited with saving his father after spotting flames in the kitchen around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. He called his grandmother Lena Reed and the two pulled the unconscious father from a smoke-filled house before he was treated for smoke inhalation.
