Federal Judge Bernard M. Decker cut required signatures for independent and new party candidates to 20,000 for the June 7 Chicago mayoral election and extended the filing deadline from April 4 to April 18, ruling the prior 63,373 and 35,947 signatures undeservedly high.

Chicago police raided Pandora's just north of the business district and arrested three women and two men including a suspected patron. An undercover detective posed as a customer to obtain membership, pass a credit check, and complete a lie-detector test leading to prostitution and keeping a disorderly house charges. Officers found extensive customer files during the action.
Wendy Yoshimura, linked to Patricia Hearst and the SLA, is sentenced to 1 to 15 years in state prison for illegal possession of weapons and explosives found in a Berkeley garage. Judge Pulich raised bail to $50,000, allowing her release pending the appeal, while noting her ties to Hearst.

The naked decomposed body of Nevada labor leader Al Bramlet was found on a desert mountain southwest of Las Vegas, about three weeks after his disappearance. George Pierce 89 of Bonnie died at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer born in Illinois on March 27 1687, son of Thomas and Sarah Pierce. Survived by his wife Orphia Hamilton and several nieces and nephews. Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday at Inn Funeral Home officiated by Rev. David Schlag. Burial Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Charles Edward Jack Webb age 74 of Dale died Thursday at 7 35 p m at Hamilton Memorial Hospital McLeansboro. Funeral arrangements were incomplete this morning at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Mrs Mona M Carpenter Lombard 82 died March 8 in Lombard. Former Bluword Route 2 resident. Funeral held March 10 at Steuerle Funeral Home Lombard with Rev Walter E Holm officiating. Burial in Mt Emblem. She belonged to Mt Vernon Chapter 233 Order of Eastern Star and Sunset Chapter 828 Chicago.
Marshall Daniel, 82, of 207 North Pearl Street McLeansboro died at 6 45 a m at his home. He is survived by his family and was a longtime resident known in the community. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
Mrs Matilda Schilling Dahlgren 76 of Route 1 Dahlgren died at 4 04 a m at Good Samaritan Hospital Mt Vernon. Funeral details pending this morning in Dahlgren.
