McCarthy Defends Red Hunt Methods in Midwest Tour

Senator McCarthy challenged critics in Chicago and throughout a Midwest swing to name Communists exposed by his investigations. He vowed a relentless anti communism campaign despite Eisenhower’s public concerns, insisting the fight would continue while he serves in the Senate. A man and woman attempted to rob the Frankfort State Bank but failed after a teller and cashier refused to cooperate behind bullet proof glass. The woman demanded hands up at 2 50 p m. the accomplice aimed a pistol at the cashier. They fled and were not caught.

Youth Sentenced To State Penitentiary In Circuit Court

Lloyd Bodine, 21, was sentenced to one to ten years in the state penitentiary after a circuit court session. States Attorney Demetri Haskakis had sought to revoke Bodine's petition. Judge Caswall J. Crebs imposed the sentence and Bodine was remanded to the sheriff for delivery to prison.
