Rain brings relief in drought hit West

The Associated Press reports drought relief as rain falls across California Nevada Utah and Arizona with snow in higher elevations and up to six inches expected in northern Arizona mountains. A winter storm watch covers Colorado mountains while a high wind warning affects the Texas Panhandle. Clouds sweep the Rockies and plains with showers in west Texas and southeast Kansas and snow reaching Minnesota Oregon Montana and northern Atlantic coast states. Overnight temps vary from 14 in Marquette Michigan to 71 in Del Rio Texas with many cities in the 30s to 60s.

National Ruritan Workshop In Mt Vernon

National Ruritan representatives hold a three day expansion workshop at the Holiday Inn in Mt Vernon to organize new clubs. Explosion Hits Arlington Heights Church During Choir Practice

Fire Chief says it was miraculous no one was killed after a furnace explosion at the First Baptist Church of Arlington Heights during choir practice. Twelve teens were inside the church but only property damage occurred with doors and smoked-glass windows blown out. Cause of the blast was not determined at the time.

Auto Strike Continues at Danville GM Plant Amid Pacts Reached

About 8,200 UAW members at five General Motors plants in Indianapolis vote on a new local contract after a tentative pact was reached. Meanwhile, a GM foundry in Defiance Ohio delays strike deadline indefinitely and a Euclid Ohio plant ratifies a new contract while Danville Indiana workers continue to strike. A spokesman said the Indianapolis talks ended with a tentative agreement Wednesday night.
