Death of William J. Gardner in Casner Township

William J. Gardner aged 66 was found dead at his home in Casner township four miles northeast of Ashley. A printer at the Ashley News he likely died from a heart attack. He resided with his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Grady Slayton. Funeral plans were incomplete. Body at Hogan Funeral Home Ashley.

Mrs Ida Clark Dies In Centralia At 77 Rites Saturday

Mrs. Ida B. Clark 77, mother of S. Harold Clarke of this city, died at 7:00 am Thursday at her daughter Mrs. J H Barrow’s home in Centralia. Funeral 1:30 pm Saturday at Queen Boggs Funeral Home Centralia with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Survived by husband John W Clark Sr, five sons Vern H Carpenter S Harold Clarke Harry S Clark William D Clark John W Clark Jr, one daughter, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Ten families on Cyprus continue walkout amid island unrest

Greek shopkeepers, laborers and clerks joined a five day general shutdown on Cyprus as shortages of gasoline and fuel oil spread. Syria accuses Turkey after border shootings
