Illinois Fraternity Placed On Probation For Beer At Dance
The Alpha Delta Phi chapter at the University of Illinois was put on social probation until February 1952 and behavior probation until June 1952 after a hearing on February 24 194? incident. The group is barred from school functions during probation. The death of Harold J. Colton Jr 21 from Chicago followed a blow at the dance and was ruled not homicidal. Coroner Don Wikoff cited intoxication and disturbances at the event. Clark E Dean a fraternity officer admitted striking Colton. A coroner jury faulted fraternity officers for lax oversight of the dance.

Jefferson county 4-H Club girls will learn to sew through a training program. Sixty leaders attended a special school at the Presbyterian Church where Miss Lucile Hieser demonstrated sewing techniques. The leaders will teach 288 4-Hers sewing machine use pattern and fabric selection and garment prep. Miss Anna Betty Huck emphasizes accuracy for well fitted garments. Older girls will study managing clothing dollars in a separate project. Participants must have five years of prior clothing work.

Frank H. Malone former Mr Vernon resident and Spanish American War veteran died yesterday in Clearwater Florida at age 73. The body will be sent to Mt Vernon for burial with funeral arrangements incomplete. He is survived by his wife Mabel Long two sisters Mrs Voyle Gorham and Mrs Paul T Ratcliffe of Mt Vernon and a brother F C Malone of Salt Lake City.

Boy Struck by Moving Truck on Sixth Street
Bobby Hayes, 10, stepped from behind a parked car and hit a moving truck at 10:30 AM. He suffered minor abrasions and a split lip but was not seriously hurt. An eyewitness said he wandered onto Sixth Street as the truck, owned by Don Torre Grossa, headed east on Casey street. Ray Black, the truck driver, did not see him.
