Frederick F Marlowe of 1800 Cherry Street died at 11 35 am Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital at age 72. Rites set for Saturday at Pulley Funeral Chapel with Rev Bird Green and Rev R B Guthrie officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Body in state at Pulley Funeral Home after 10 am Friday. Survived by wife Virginia Munroe Marlowe, two sons Frederick Jr and Byron, daughter Virginia Hill, three brothers Bern ie Henry Hall, three sisters Herma Archer Lula Hunter Cecil Deedrick. He was born April 17 1884 in Jefferson County and was WWI veteran.

Mrs Eva Morse Jaeck Dies in St Petersburg Fla

Eva Morse Jaeck 75 mother of Betty Tittle of Bonnie died at her St. Petersburg home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete with the body to be flown to Peoria Illinois for services at Stone Mortuary. Survived by two children Betty Tittle of Bonnie and Leonard Morse of Peoria and three grandchildren. Husband Wallace preceded her in death.

Violent Aleutian Quake Strikes Island Chain

The Coast and Geodetic Survey reported another violent earthquake in the Aleutian Islands, the seventh major quake since Saturday. The 9:57 a.m. EST reading showed the seismograph needle swinging fiercely for about an hour, prompting a stop. SIU officials said Gov. Stratton indicated a need for a tuition hike at Southern Illinois University. Board chairman John P. Wham cautioned it could range from 25 to 50 percent, with current rates 95.50 a year for Illinois students and 185.50 for out of state residents. Health Improvement Association Plans Meeting

The Jefferson County Health Improvement Association held its quarterly board meeting in the Supervisors' room at the courthouse. Plans for the April 9 annual meeting were discussed, including establishing a nursing scholarship for rural Jefferson county graduates.
