An information charging the Fredman Bros Furniture Co Inc with advertising a going out of business sale without a valid city license was filed in county court this morning by States Attorney Demetri Hassakis. The information was filed on the complaint of local merchants.

Blood Drive Hits 129 Pints at First Methodist Church

Jefferson county residents donated 129 pints of blood during yesterday's Red Cross Bloodmobile visit at the First Methodist church. The Bloodmobile returns today until 4 00 p m with a 350 pint quota. Auto-Lite hosts a private auto show at its Mt. Vernon plant featuring 1954 Studebaker models with bold color interiors and new mechanicals. Passenger Sues Yellow Top Taxi For 10000 Injury

Opal R. Webb filed a $10,000 personal injury suit in circuit court here against Andy Rector Eula Rector doing business as Yellow Top Taxi D F McCowan and Eugene Jones. Webb says injuries occurred December 27 1952 when a taxi driven by Jones ran over a street curb. Hill and Dolan represent Webb.

Winds and hail lash Lincoln Illinois area

Howling winds and heavy rain and hail swept through central Illinois causing damage to businesses homes trees and utility poles. The Armour Creamery roof was torn off disrupting the Gulf Mobile and Ohio Railroad line. Electric power interruptions affected Lincoln for over two hours. Route 66 traffic sheltered near Elkhart as Barr Crossing and nearby communities reported unroofed houses and damaged grain elevator.

Thomas of Los Angeles, an assistant secretary of defense for supply and logistics, was nominated by President Eisenhower to be Secretary of the Navy. He would replace Robert B.
