A retired miner born January 20 1894 in Jefferson county he was married to Clara Freeman and survived by a son Kenneth and daughters Ruth and Lillian along with brothers Clarence Herbert and sister Gladys Sattell. He was a World War I veteran.

Oscar Grooms, 77, of 1025 Conger Avenue, died at 10 00 a m today at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a Mt Vernon resident for 53 years. Born February 15, 1892 in Lions county Kentucky he was the son of Robert and Gra cie Lyons Grooms. Survivors include his wife A L Grooms two sons Tolbert of Cleveland Ohio and Northern Bill of Mt Vernon two daughters Ida Mae Black and Maurine Williams both of Milwaukee Wisconsin two brothers Claude of Detroit and Chester of Cleveland one sister Fannie DeBoe of Paducah seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Body at Parker Funeral Home.
