Oil Smeared Bahamas Beach After Tanker Grounding
A 555 foot tanker General Colotronis ran aground on a reef near Point James Eleuthera Island in heavy seas. Oil leaked into Eleuthera beaches as crews attempted to save the vessel. One crewman died when a rescue boat capsized. Detergents were flown from Florida and New York to emulsify the spill.

He was born October 28 1883 and survived by his wife Mae England Troutt and other family members. Funeral services scheduled at Pulley Funeral Chapel with burial at Old Shiloh Cemetery. He was a member of New Hope Webb Baptist church.

Plane crash claims SCM Corp chairman and family aboard
