Carl R Purdue 74 of 427 S 20th St died 7:20 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He a carpenter. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at L R Osborn and Sons Funeral Home Kell with burial in Purdue Cemetery. Born June 12 1901 son of Edward E and Mabel Gaddy Purdue. Married Dorothy Beasley May 14 1922 in Kell, she survives. He belonged to Kell Methodist Church. Survivors include wife son James of Park Forest two grandchildren three brothers Charles Well Claude Julia Bruce Dix and sister Mrs Bertha Brownfield Centralia.

Charges Pending In Theft Of Car
A 20 year old Mr. Vernon man was jailed early today on auto theft and driving without a license. Police arrested him 15 minutes after his sister called at 11 55 p m Sunday to report the unauthorized car theft. The arrest occurred at the intersection of 12th Street and Perkins Avenue. He remained in county jail pending filing of charges.

Three Olney Women Hurt As Car Overturns West Of Mt
Three Olney women Marlene Eddington Vicki Harpole and Judy Fletcher were hospitalized Saturday after their car overturned on I 44 about a mile west of I 57. The incident occurred when a car driven by Frederick F Yeager struck the rear of Eddingtons vehicle. All three victims were listed in satisfactory condition at Good Samaritan Hospital with various injuries. Yeager was not injured and his car had minor damage. Police did not release ticket information.
