The nephew of Vernon man T J Marvel who was wounded serving with the Red Cross in Korea will join NBC program The Land We Live In. He will broadcast at 9 00 p m Thursday on St Louis station KSD. Marvel is a Red Cross field director and a patient at Camp Atterbury Indiana. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ed Marvel of Edinburgh Illinois.

Marines Begin Home Leave for Korean War Veterans
About 400 convalescing Marine veterans from Korea are to start 30 days leave today in San Francisco. Some 750 Leathernecks, returning under a new rotation, should head home by Saturday. Naval officers report 234 sailors aboard the transport Gen Brenckinridge among the group. Marines describe the leave as real liberty with stories of whiskey, meals, and lights of the city.

Confiscated Slot Machines Yield $4242 For Marion County
In Salem Illinois on March 7 the Marion County treasurer Robert Nicholas announced that 31 confiscated slot machines paid off 4242 dollars. The machines were seized by Illinois State Police in raids Friday night and later destroyed. Five counters and two coin counting devices took about five hours to total the money.

Youths Sentenced to State Penitentiary for Auto Larceny
