Trunk of Gems Worth 50000 Missing in Tucson
Fred J. Cannon, a 62 year old jewelry salesman for Cannon Schaefer of Los Angeles, reported a heavy green fabric trunk containing wholesale jewels valued at 40000 to 50000 missing from the Southern Pacific baggage room in downtown Tucson. He had displayed wares to a customer and then re-stowed the trunk before leaving. Baggage agents and train searches found no trace of the trunk.
