Local residents including Bill Wood George Earl Hill and Chapman Rackaway were in McLeansboro for the Mt. Vernon versus Harrisburg regional basketball final. Numerous Mt. Vernon natives and visitors attended the game and related events across the area with many names listed among the fans and travelers.
Mary Delia Wood 75 of Jefferson county died at St Marys Hospital East St Louis at 1230 a m She was born March 7 1875 to Jasper Braddy and wife She married Andy Wood now deceased Survived by four daughters Martha Patterson Nellie Cline Nettie Patterson and Della Fry a son Charles Wood three brothers Emery Arthur Harve Braddy twelve grandchildren six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild Funeral planned at Keenes with details pending

Funeral services for John Arthur Paul will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Marys church with Father James P. Burke officiating. Paul died yesterday at 12:01 p.m. at his home 312 South 15th Street. He was 26 years, seven months, and ten days old. He is survived by his parents, John P. and Anna Paul of Mt. Vernon, and one sister, Mrs. Eileen Rutherford of Phoenix.
The League of Women Voters will study legislative reapportionment in Illinois at a Tuesday 2 o'clock meeting. The session will be held at the home of Mrs. Andrew Caraker, 718 Jordan.
The Garden Glories Club will meet at 1010 Park Avenue at 1 30 Tuesday March 6 with guest speaker Mrs Norman Clark to present points for entering a competitive garden show. The Ladies Bible Class meeting opened with singing He Leadeth Me and included scripture reading by Mattie Stokes and prayer by Mrs Jesse Ford.
Carl Drennan is named rehabilitation officer for Jefferson Post 141 American Legion. He will be at Legion Home Wednesdays to advise veterans on claims including hospitalization pension and compensation. Drennan has five years with Illinois Veterans Commission and will handle death claim settlements for veterans and dependents at no charge.
Word has reached Mt. Vernon of the death of Fred Piercy, a former Vernon resident, who died last night at Rock Falls Minnesota. He was the father of Sherwood Piercy, a former Mt. Vernon fireman now in Randall Minnesota. Funeral services will be held in Little Falls on Monday afternoon. He was a brother in law of A. R. Swift, Mrs. J. L. Johnson and Mrs. Lou Gilmore of Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Frazier will be held Sunday at 1 30 p m at the Seventh Day Adventist church in West Frankfort. The Rev. O W Bacheller will officiate and burial will be in Old Number Eight cemetery, east of Johnston City. Mrs. Frazier, 73, died at 11 15 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her son, Wayne Frazier, 216 north Seventh street. A resident of West Frankfort, she had been at the home of her son for the past week.

Bennie Bell Bradley a seven year old from Sledge Mississippi survived a severe burn after a pioneering skin graft from eight white and two Black donors. A Memphis surgeon led the effort with help from the Mississippi Crippled Children's Society and public donations. The case marks a first in the United States with skin from white and Negro donors transferred to one patient. Bennie Bell has recovered well and expresses little concern for the past.
