The death of Mrs Lucile Wiles occurred yesterday at Elmhurst Hospital in DL. She was a former Mt Vernon resident and wife of Walter Combs. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. Mrs Combs was cousin to Keith Combs and Mrs Frank Moore of the city.
The National Safety Council forecast 380 traffic deaths for the July 4 weekend from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Monday, counting only immediate fatalities. Over 40 million cars will be on the move, with safety tips to slow 10 mph, start early, avoid hurry, pass singly with margin, and drive rested.

A son was born yesterday at Jefferson Memorial hospital to Mr and Mrs James Page of RFD 2 Inc at 1130 AM. The infant weighed nine pounds one ounce and has been named Kevin Brooks.
Rev C L Finley and Mrs Finley and Lory Van Horn returned from the 111th conference of Evangelical United Brethren held in Elgin Illinois. Finley pastors the Mt Vernon church and Van Horn was lay member representative. Pastors of all Mt Vernon group were returned to their churches.
Chicago Fire Department has silenced the sirens on its ambulances while keeping lights. Fire Commissioner Anthony J. Mullaney cites too many traffic accidents as reason. He hopes drivers will take fewer risks in the future.

No injuries reported after a Monday collision at Tenth and Main. Police said W. T. Partridge of RFD 6 backed from a parking space and struck Roland S. Burberry of Benton, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
David Turner of RFD 1 Opdyke was fined 25 dollars and costs by Police Magistrate Allan Dulaney on a reckless driving charge.
Auxiliary firemen will begin a Red Cross first aid course at 7:00 o'clock tonight at the Mt. Vernon fire department. Fire Chief Julius Lustig announced the class will be conducted by Red Cross instructors Firemen Charles Compton and Ed Harrison.
