Cat Killed After Straying Into Chimpanzee Cage
A stray cat entered a female chimpanzee’s cage at Jackson Mississippi Zoo on Wednesday night. The chimp dragged the cat by the tail and swung it from a trapeze. Zoo workers drenched the animal with water to break the hold, but the chimp burst into a rage and crushed the cat against the cage bars, killing it.

No probation for dope peddlers in U S District Court
Two Cairo, Illinois men, George Lewis and Luther Eugene Taylor, were sentenced in U S District Court to prison terms for narcotics trafficking. Lewis received three years and a $1,000 fine, Taylor two years and a $500 fine, after being found guilty of conspiring to sell and selling heroin to a federal agent in Cairo on March 16. Judge Fred L. Wham rejected probation.
