Ten Pounds of Heroin Seized in Chicago Raid
Chicago police seized ten pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of 6.5 million dollars in a North Side apartment raid. No arrests were reported. Investigators called the operation part of a nationwide effort against a large international dope ring with about 20 members transporting heroin from Mexico to Chicago for distribution to dealers in New York Wisconsin Michigan and other states. The apartment was described as a coyote flat used to store drugs weighing equipment and paraphernalia. The heroin was found in eight 10 inch tubes inside a suitcase in a closet. A scale was also recovered.

Protest group wins stay on tax multiplier filing
In Belleville Illinois a citizens group Protestors of Unfair Taxes won a temporary restraining order blocking St Clair County Board of Review from filing local tax multipliers with the state Department of Local Government. CHICAGO AP Juan Alvarez 34 of Chicago arrested after 29 fighting cocks seized in a raid on a West Side store.
