Gideon Isaac Covalt of 1440 Warren Avenue died at 2 52 p m Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital aged 79 years two months and one day He was a former schoolteacher and grocery store owner in Decatur for 23 years He lived here 22 years Rites Tuesday at 2 00 p m at Christ Gospel church with Rev George Shelton officiating Burial at Old Shiloh Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 4 00 p m today The body will lie in state at noon Tuesday at the church He was a member of Epworth Methodist church and worked with Christ Gospel church He was a past master of Macon Lodge A F and A M Decatur Ill and past elder of the Eastern Star at Decatur He was born April 9 1877 in Fulton County Pa the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Covall He married Etta Everts in 1902 who survives Besides his wife he leaves three brothers Simeon of Mattoon Jess of Hindsboro II and Ira of New Jersey He was preceded in death by one daughter three brothers and two sisters.
