Deaths and Funerals for John Casey Held in Vernon

Funeral services for John Casey will be at 2:00 p m Sunday at Myers Chapel with Rev Bayne Wilson and Dr Don Crocker officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Gardens. Casey died Tuesday in Billings Montana at age 44. He was an oil consultant and lawyer, son of Mrs Edna Casey, and husband of June Broyles. He was a former Vernon resident and the body lies in state at Myers Chapel after 12:30 p m Sunday.

Cardinal Ritter dies at 74 after serving as a principled church leader. A Mass in his honor was discussed at St Louis Cathedral but a solemn pontifical Mass was vetoed. Land Raider Tijerina Arrested After Manhunt Near Bernalillo

Reles Tijerina leader of the Con federation of Free City States was captured with two others at a state police roadblock south of Bernalillo. The raid on a northern New Mexico courthouse followed by a court appearance on extortion and unlawful assembly charges. Tijerina, 40, was armed but offered no resistance and was jailed in Santa Fe, along with his son Hugh Reyes Tijerina and Uvaldo Velasquez. Authorities had scoured about 500 men over 2,500 square miles of Carson National Forest with no prior success in locating the militants.

Two cars were damaged yesterday afternoon in the 200 block of south Ninth street. Glenda L. Welch age 18 of 801 south 22nd street had about $100 damage and Irvin T. Pepple age 66 of Belle Rive sustained over $100 damage. Pepple was charged with backing without due caution.
