Effingham Illinois hosts the 23rd District American Legion Auxiliary meeting with attendees Justine Rockenmeyer Ruth Allen Mary Swingle Lulu Buckingham Dorothy Warren and prize winner Minnie Burton from Mt. Vernon township high school. Delegates to the National Convention were Christine Rockenmeyer and Lois Granfield. District 25 officers and Rebekah Lodge No 296 members are noted along with entertainments and refreshments.

Alumni Dance At Waltonville Saturday Night

The Waltonville Alumni dance will be held Saturday night in the Waltonville gymnas ium from nine to one with the Egyptian Aires Orchestra providing music. Local clubs and societies stage events across the weekend with meetings and receptions planned in Mt Vernon and nearby towns.

Holt Engagement Announced in Mount Vernon

Mrs. Leonard H. Holt of 822 Oakland Avenue Mount Vernon announces the engagement of her daughter Joyce Elizabeth Holt to Ranald Jackson Pickering son of Mr Carlyle W. Pickering and the late Mrs Pickering of Goshen Indiana. Miss Holt studied at Lindenwood College and Indiana University Bloomington pledging Sigma Kappa and majoring in social service. Mr Pickering attends Indiana University majoring in geology and is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon set to graduate mid term. The wedding is planned for September 10 in Mount Vernon.

GMC Dealers Meet Here Farm Club Organizes Parts Group

GMC truck dealers and service managers from southern Illinois gathered at Robb's Coffee House to form a parts and service managers club. Leland Hubble was elected president, with Lester Harshbarger as vice president and Jim Troutman as secretary treasurer. Bi monthly meetings will be held in Mt Vernon with GMC Truck and Coach Division officials in attendance.

Ford Parts Men Organize Club in Southern Illinois

A meeting of Ford parts and accessories men from southern Illinois formed a regional club with Ford Motor Co representatives in the Holman Motor Co conference room. C E Grable opened the meeting and G E Kohlbry outlined aims to inform dealers and improve merchandising and customer relations. L Robinson was elected president, Joe Conti vice-president, R J Tramell secretary, C L Taylor treasurer, with board members H M McCrute Carl Dietrich and P E Johns. Next gathering set for July 25 at Hotel Emmers.

Wedding in White Satin with Orchids and Family Prose

A church ceremony featured a bride in white satin with a sweetheart neckline and illusion veil, attended by sister Iris LaFave as matron of honor. Edmond E. Local residents plan summer visits and travels across multiple states. Wilma Starner leaves for Rich Hill Missouri for the summer and returns to Mt Vernon in fall to resume Mt. Vernon Township High School. Summer music activities begin for Mt. Vernon youth

Summer programs start next week for grade and junior high boys and girls who took instrumental music or played in the junior high orchestra and band. Sessions led by Harry Dunham and W. R. Render run eight weeks in Casey Junior High cafeteria with practice times for junior high band 9 AM and beginners 10 AM Monday June 12. orchestra 8:30 AM Tuesday and Thursday with first meeting June 13. orchestra and beginner group 8:39 AM Wednesday and Friday with first meeting June 14.
