Syracuse U. commencement honors local graduate
Ralph G. Blank, son of Mr. A. H. Blank of Mt. Vernon Ill, is among Syracuse University's 93rd commencement candidates. The ceremony June 5 at Archbold Stadium marks the university’s largest class with more than 3400 grads. James E. Webb will speak. Blank earns a bachelor’s in industrial design from the College of Fine Arts and is a Heverstraw High School alum and Zeta Psi member.

Eugene Davis aged 26 was arrested by city police last night on a charge of stealing a table model radio from his brother Wayne Davis. Officers Gerald Davis and Delbert Carlton made the arrest and he was taken to the county jail.

Auto accident exposes youth as trousers torn
Caledonia Michigan June 3 18 year old Frank Bales walked into the side of a moving car. The door handle caught in his belt neatly detaching his trousers. He escaped injury and only embarrassment, officials said.

George Willis Dies at 80 Funeral Monday
George W. Willis of 1201 Salem Road died at 8 15 pm in Jefferson County Memorial Hospital after a two week stay. He was 80 years eight months two days. Funeral services are Monday at 2 00 pm at Ewing Baptist Church with Revs J R McDuffy and B E Page officiating. burial in Williams Chapel Cemetery. The body remains at Myers Chapel after 4 00 pm today and will be taken to his daughter Frances Wyatt in Whittington at 10 am Sunday. Willis was born September 8 1869 in Jefferson County, a farmer, married to Nancy Ange line Book who preceded him in death. survivors include two sons Earl and Frank, a daughter Frances Wyatt, a brother Huel Willis, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren.

Albright Named to Insurance Post in Mt Vernon
William R. Albright of Mt. Vernon is appointed service sales representative for State Farm Insurance in the Mt. Vernon area. The Illinois state director N. Eric Bell announced the news this week. A World War II Air Force pilot, Mr. Albright has lived in Mt. Vernon since his relief from active duty and is former owner of the Albright News Agency. He now commands the local National Guard unit and is licensed for auto life and fire insurance. He and Mrs. Albright with their son Mark reside at 404 North 16th Street in their newly purchased home.

Body of Bill Kramer Here For Rites, Burial
The body of William J. Kramer who was killed in an accident near Ilinsdale Alabama at 4:00 am yesterday will be brought to Mt. Vernon for funeral services and burial in Jefferson county. He will arrive Sunday morning and stay at Myers Chapel until the funeral. He was a former Opdyke resident, living in Rockford Illinois, a truck driver for Ott Trucking Company. Born August 19 1924 in East St Louis he was the son of William J and Josie Kramer. He attended Opdyke schools and was a World War II veteran with the Eighth Air Force. He was married to Betty Livingst on who survives. Besides his wife he is survived by one son Charles Earl at home his parents Mr and Mrs William J Kramer of Opdyke a brother Jack Kramer of Opdyke and a sister Mrs Jane Leeck of Opdyke.
