The Winds Commerce Commission approved Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad's plan to substitute service on routes between Chicago and Danville, saving about 500000 dollars annually. Passenger trains 94 and 95 Chicago to Evansville are eliminated between Chicago and Danville. trains 3 and 4 replace 1 and 92 on the new Chicago Danville schedule. The ICC order takes effect Tuesday.

Four Fire Alarms Reported in Mt Vernon Area
Firemen answered four alarms in the Mt Vernon region. Rural crews were called to the Tri-County Electric Cooperative on Ashley Road where a rubbish fire ignited lumber piles causing minor damage.
