Charles H Huff of Blu ford died at 5 00 a m in Pocahontas Arkansas from an apparent heart attack. The body will be brought to Bluford Funeral Home for arrangements which are incomplete. The death notice lists visiting relatives and the location Bluford as the funeral home.
Funeral services were held for John Thompson a former resident of Mt Vernon and rural Jefferson County. Thompson died Sunday at 3 30 p m Burial took place at Staten Funeral Home Alton with rites at 10 a m Tuesday. He was born July 4 19 in Ken podlawn and was survived by one brother Will Thompson of Centralia and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mary Piper of Kettering Ohio and former Mt. Vernon resident died Tuesday in Dayton Ohio. Her body returns to Mt. Vernon for funeral services Friday at 1 30 p.m. at Myers Chapel with Rev Delbert T Wickstrom officiating and burial in Oakwood cemetery. She was born September 5 1876, widow of James H Piper who died in 1916. Survived by two sons Chauncey Piper of O fallon Missouri and Arthur Piper of Dayton Ohio, a daughter Mrs Jean Ortman of Kettering Ohio, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A/IC and Mrs Don D Dorris of 5135 south Bowie Amarillo Texas welcomed a son Eric Todd born at 940 yesterday in Army Base Hospital weighing six pounds thirteen ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Delmar Dorris and Mrs June Price. Larry Schiottman of 1807 Franklin and his wife welcomed a daughter born Monday at 429 in Good Samaritan Hospital weighing seven pounds thirteen and a half ounces. Cyril Dean Cates of RFD 1 Vernon and his wife welcomed a son born this morning at 526 in Good Samaritan Hospital weighing nine pounds three and a half ounces. James L Williamson of Belle Rive and his wife welcomed a daughter born this morning at 455 in Good Samaritan Hospital weighing eight pounds four. Peter Mack Harris of 500 South 15th Street welcomed a son born yesterday afternoon at 550 in Jefferson Memorial Hospital weighing seven pounds nine ounces and named Stephen g.
Murrell Eugene Wilson filed a divorce action in circuit court against Mary Martia Wilson charging cruelty. The couple married May 15 1958 and separated June 13 1964. He sought custody of their three children.
Mt Vernon grain market prices list after noon shows Wheat at 1.26 Soybeans at 2.37 and Corn at 1.17 per bushel or unit. The figures reflect local quotations for wheat soybeans and corn in Mt Vernon traded after noon.

Jackson age 64 of Chester died Tuesday near Ruma Illinois after his car collided with a semitrailer truck driven by L J Werner Jr age 25 of Freeburg who escaped injury Randolph County police reported the crash occurred near Ruma on a Tuesday with authorities noting Werner Jr managed to escape uninjured and Jackson was killed in the collision
The Community Facilities Administration advanced funds to two Illinois communities. Monmouth received a 2.2 million loan to finance a 150 bed hospital planned at about 3.454 million dollars. Capron was advanced 1.8 thousand for sewer system planning with construction costs estimated at 50.718 thousand dollars.
