Nab Marion Man For Kidnaping
Marion sheriff says 28 year old Marion man Ray Mifflin is in custody in Lake Charles Louisiana on charges of kidnapping his wife’s two nieces Carmen Barham 14 and Clara Barham 13 who vanished July 6. Carmen also faces a delinquency charge filed by Frances Barham Johnston City. The sheriff expects his return to Williamson County while the girls’ father L D Barham Johnston City travels to bring them home.

Hurt When Truck Leaves Highway
Elmer Collins, 60, of Delafield, suffered a head laceration when a truck left state highway 142 on a curve about a mile southeast of Mt. Vernon yesterday afternoon. The vehicle knocked down a highway guard post before leaving the pavement. Collins received emergency care at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and was arrested by Jefferson county officers on a driving while intoxicated charge after posting bond.
