William J. Faulkner, 85, Route 5 McLeansboro, died at 2 47 am today at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. Born April 16 1881 in Hamilton County, he was the son of Leonard and Cordelia Faulkner and married Nettie Blaze January 16 1901. Surviving are his wife, one son Charles Faulkner, three daughters Mary Hill Ruby Sandusky Frances King, one brother Charles C. Faulkner, one sister May Floyd, and six grandchildren. arrangements are incomplete at Gholson Funeral Home. He was a member of Webb's Chapel.

CHICAGO AP Richard Speck 24 indicted in the slaying of eight student nurses faces arraignment Monday. The Circuit Court announced the date after the grand jury handed down eight indictments charging the former odd jobs man with murder. Speck had also been charged with slaying Gloria Jane Davy 22 of Dyer Ind, believed to be the first nurse killed in the July 14 massacre. A King City Barracks World War I veterans picnic followed by reports from their state convention were given. Delegates to the Danville convention included W.D. Isaac J.E. Brummett John M. Stevens Roy Newman and Lewis Brake. Stevens was installed Third Illinois District Commander. The King City Barracks earned 100 percent membership, received an Old Glory Cap emblem and the golden pennant. Stevens installation was part of Illinois officer ceremonies led by John J. Harrington. King City Barracks showed gains over three years despite high deaths among the 1917-18 cohort. Isaac praised the morale and teamwork. Plans for the 1966 San Diego national convention and the August 23 watermelon feast were announced. Legislative progress updates and a Southern Illinois victory in electing Sherman Carr to Department Junior Vice Commander were noted. Delegates to the Illinois Auxiliary convention included Mrs. W.D. Isaac and others. the local Auxiliary earned recognition for membership.
