Coffey-Jack Couple Wed At First Methodist Church
Miss Yvonne Jackson daughter of Fred Jackson of Bloomington wed Norman Lee Coffey son of Mr and Mrs L M Coffey of Mt Vernon in a July 19 ceremony at eight o clock. Rev Bayne Dol Wilson officiated. The bride wore a bergberg street length dress with pink carnations and a garland while the groom’s grandmother’s bracelet was worn. A reception followed at 1704 Casey and the couple left for a trip through Indiana and Kentucky. The bride is a senior at Mt Vernon Township High School and the groom is a recent graduate now in Business College in Evansville.

Mary A Harpole Dies at Age 80
Mary A. Harpole died at 4:00 p.m. yesterday at 113 S Second Street aged 80 years six months and 25 days. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel with Rev. Riley Burton officiating and burial in Sursa cemetery. She was born January 1 1869 in Clinton County Illinois, married Henry A Harpole September 12 1888, who survives. She leaves one daughter Lillie Sendelbach Mt Vernon seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, plus three brothers and two sisters. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist church. She was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

The Girl Scout Council of Mt. Vernon received its 1949 59 charter from the National Headquarters in New York granting official unit status for the next year. The charter honors yearly achievement, including membership, service, and program quality, citing the council’s 1948 accomplishments in a letter from national president Mrs. C Vaughn Ferguson.
