Milda Mathews Drennan Tathews 32 of McHenry Ill dies in Henry County hospital Tuesday. Former Jefferson County resident attended Mt Vernon schools. Funeral 12:00 PM Saturday at Pulley Funeral Chapel with Marsh Harpole and Rev Saul Suler officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery. She left behind husband Troy Tathews, parents Felix and Ladys Drennan, three sons Michael Annie and Gary, two daughters Donna Lorinda, a brother Bob Drennan Sr and four sisters Elizabeth Peavier Ruth Willis Sue Ann Goodman and Kay Jenkins. She was born July 9 1930 in Ina Illinois. Her daughter and brother are noted as deceased.

Prices paid on the local livestock market were 10 cents higher today. The top was 18.10 for 190 to 220 lb hogs. Sows were 15.23 for 30 weight down, sows 300 weight and over 14.75, down. Boars were 8.50 and 9.50.

Living costs rise in June with new record set
June index shows broad increases in living costs driven by services and durable goods while gasoline and fuels edge lower. The rise triggers wage bumps for about 40,000 union workers including 26,000 Greyhound drivers and 2,000 chemical workers plus other California cartage and San Francisco truck drivers. Medical care costs climbed with hospital room rates up 6 percent and hospital insurance up 4.8 percent while prescriptions fell 1.3 percent.
